| FACTS AND QUESTIONS
What is guaranteed issue health insurance? Simply put, guaranteed issue means that you qualify for the health insurance policy, regardless of your medical conditions. There are no medical questions and there is no underwriting. With medically underwritten health insurance programs, there are medical questions that you are asked prior to being issued a health insurance policy and you can be denied based on your answers and your medical history. With our limited benefit programs, your current or past medical conditions cannot be used against you to deny you coverage.
When will my pre-existing conditions be covered? If you have had 12 months of prior coverage without any breaks of more than 63 days, we have programs that will cover you from day 1, depending on what state you live in. Otherwise, pre-existing conditions will be covered after you are on the plan for 12 consecutive 12 months.
Do I need a guaranteed issue health insurance plan? If you have pre-existing medical conditions that would cause you to be declined by a plan with medical questions and underwriting, you could benefit from one of our guaranteed issue limited benefit programs. Some conditions that usually cause you to be declined by a medically underwritten plan include heart attack or heart surgery, cancer, hepatitis C, bipolar disorder, or currently pregnant, just to name a few. Although you might have made a full recovery from a past condition, your definition of health and an insurance company’s definition of healthy will often differ. If you are unsure, one of our licensed insurance agents will help you determine if you would benefit from one of our defined benefit programs. In some cases you might qualify for a medically underwritten program, but the insurance company will permanently exclude or rate you up for certain medical conditions. Sometimes these rate ups are astronomical and often unaffordable. In those cases, a guaranteed issue plan might be a better alternative.
Are limited benefit or defined benefit programs real insurance or discount plans? All of our Limited Benefit or Defined Benefit programs are real health insurance programs. All of our programs are backed by top rated insurance carriers and are only sold through state licensed insurance agents. We do not and will not sell discount plans which are often sold by individuals who are not licensed and do not truly understand insurance. More often than not, discount plans are usually a wasted of money as they offer very little coverage.
Why are limited benefit programs willing to cover people who have conditions that are normally declined? Limited Benefit or Defined Benefit programs have a maximum payout they are responsible to pay for per year. Therefore, they know what their maximum risk is. With medically underwritten programs, their risk is virtually unlimited, thus the strict underwriting guidelines.
Will I have access to a network of providers? All of our programs are backed by top rated insurance carriers and offer access to large national PPO networks with negotiated rates for medical procedures and hospital stays.
Can I purchase more than one of these programs at a time? Yes and this is usually referred as “stacking.” By purchasing more than one plan you can combine the coverage which increases the amount you receive for your medical expenses.
Do the plans cover maternity? Some of our plans cover maternity and some will even cover you immediately, even if you are currently pregnant.
